This year we will be using the new CMS system for recording all the scores. All judges will be required to create an account on the CMS system. This can be done by registering here. There are three different types of judges; Essay, Model/Presentation, and City. Currently, we are looking for Essay and Model/Presentation judges. There is a YouTube video tutorial that explains how to setup your account and to get scores entered.
City Description Judges are needed to score the city description essay. This can be done from the comfort of your own computer. Once you have created your account in the CMS system and signed up as a "City Description" judge you will have essays assigned to you to download and grade. The essays are typically assigned on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. The judges are expected to evaluate the essays and enter the scores back into the CMS system. Please contact Sarah Davis for questions.
Virtual City Judges are needed to score the virtual city portion of the competition. This task can also be done from the comfort of your own computer. Once you have created your account in the CMS system and signed up as a "Virtual City" judge you will have virtual city presentations assigned to you to download and grade. Microsoft Powerpoint will be required to view the team team's virutal city presentation. Additional virtual city judging can be found in the Virtual City Judging Guidelines PDF.
Model and presentation judges are needed to score the physical 3-D city model on the day of the competition. They will evaluate innovation, creativity, aesthetics, workmanship and the use of recycled materials. Presentation judges will score the team's verbal presentations based on their delivery of the presentation, the knowledge that the students are able to demonstrate, and how well the students work as a team. Model and presentation judging will take place in the morning on Saturday, January 23, 2016. This is just a 1/2 day committment. Lunch will be provided for the judges.
If you are interested in participating in the Future City Competition as a Model/Presentation Judge, please contact our Judging Coordinator, Sarah Davis.
A Judge's Manual is available as a pdf file with judging criteria and scoring rubrics. A hard copy of the Judge's Manual will not be available this year.
There will be no "on-site" judges orientation this year. Please refer to the national website for judging resources. Nationals has created this YouTube video to help anwser some of the commonly asked questions.
Lunch will be provided for judges. Lunches and other expenses for the competition are provided by our corporate and professional society sponsors.
