Xenex City from Albuquerque Academy is New Mexico's First Regional Winner

Twenty-two teams competed for New Mexico's first Regional Title at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History on January 25th, 2014. Xenex City from Albuquerque Academy took first place in the competition.  The team will represent New Mexico to the National Competition in Washington DC from February 15 to February 18. Both second and third places were won by two teams from the Annunciation School: Hello City and City City. Fourteen other Regional Awards were also selected.

  • Best Innovation: Flying Rhinos (AIMS@UNM)
  • Best Presentation: Tigertopia (Taos Middle School)
  • Best Rural Transportation Design: Chili Line (James H. Rodriguez Elementary)
  • Best Sustainable Design: Gallifrey (Questa Jr. High School)
  • Best Virtual City: Olympus (Tony E. Quintana)
  • Best Creative Use of Recycled Materials: Omega (MESA Van Buren Middle School)
  • Best Globalization: New Baku (Albuquerque Academy)
  • Best Safety Design: Olympious (Turquoise Trail Charter School)
  • Most Energy Efficiency: Electopia (Turquoise Trail Charter School)
