2008 Future City Competition E-News, Extra Edition
The National Academy of Engineering in conjunction with the Future City Competition will host a public forum on February 19, 2008. The forum will have an audio webcast, and webcast listeners will be able to submit questions to the prize-winners using an e-mail form at http://www.national-academies.org.

Meet the Prize-Winning Engineers
The 2008 winners of the Charles Stark Draper Prize and the Bernard M. Gordon Prize will participate in a public forum with 7th and 8th grade finalists of the Future City Competition.
The winner of the Draper Prize is Rudolf Kalman, who is recognized "for the development and dissemination of the optimal digital technique (known as the Kalman Filter) that is pervasively used to control a vast array of consumer, health, commercial, and defense products." The winners of the Gordon Prize are Lawrence E. Carlson and Jacquelyn F. Sullivan, who are recognized "for the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program that infuses hands-on learning throughout K-16 engineering education to motivate and prepare tomorrow's engineering leaders."
The forum will take place on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Keck Building of the National Academies, located at 500 Fifth Street N.W., Washington, D.C. Limited space is available for the public; please register online by February 14 if you wish to attend in person at the Washington, DC NAE facility.
The forum will also be broadcast live via audio webcast, and webcast listeners will be able to submit questions to the prize-winners using an e-mail form at http://www.national-academies.org.
