Winners of the Albany region of the 2021-2022 Future City® Competition have been announced. This year the Albany region is celebrating 21 years of participating in the national competition, which is sponsored by DiscoverE (formerly National Engineers Week). This fall, 192 middle school students from 17 teams competed in the Albany regional competition.

moreAlbany, New York– Albany City School District’s William S. Hackett Middle School was recently awarded a $500 grant stipend from the Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction. Teacher Allison Griner submitted the application in the hopes of using the money in this year’s Future City® Competition.

moreWashington, D.C.– A city of the future—Marhielo—engineered by students from the New Lebanon Jr/Sr High School in New Lebanon, New York—has taken fourth place nationwide at the 2016 Future City® Competition, beating out over 1,300 teams from across the country. The students, Daniel Truax, Jaden Tompkins, and Lydia Loverin, teamed with teacher Ms. Mary Beth Liles to earn the fourth place prize.
