A city of the future – SIDRA-XIV – engineered by students from Al-Hadi School of Accelerative Learning in Houston, Texas – has won the Grand Prize today at the 29th year of the prestigious international 2021 Future City® Competition. The students, Mansha Ali, Mariyam Fatima, Hani Mirza, Dayyem Raza, Fatima Razzak, Mahdi Rizvi,  Mohammad Ali Rizvi, Zainab Rizvi and Sukaina Salim teamed with educator Syeda Batool as well as volunteer mentor Syed Rizvi, to earn this year’s top honors.

Teams from Ashland, Franklin, Hamilton, Medina Counties competed in this year's event.  Remote Learning Academy in Dublin has won the Ohio region of DiscoverE’s Future City Competition. The Future City Competition Regional Finals took place in Chicago on Saturday, January 19th at Whitney Young Magnet High School. The competition is the culmination of months spent by junior high school teams and their engineering mentors to create a city of the future. Students submit a working project plan, present their solutions via a virtual city design (using SimCity), write an essay describing the unique attributes of their city and their solution to the year’s challenge (Powering Our Future); build a scale model, and give a presentation to judges. Chicago —   Over 20 teams are set to compete in State of Illinois Future City Competition this Sat., Jan. 19 at Whitney Young Magnet High School.
