Judges

CMS - Competition Management System

This year we will be using the CMS system for recording all the scores. All judges will be required to create an account on the CMS system. This can be done by registering here. There are three different types of judges; Essay, Model/Presentation, and City. There is a YouTube video tutorial that explains how to setup your account and to get scores entered.

City Description Judges

City Description Judges are needed to score the city description essay. This can be done from the comfort of your own computer. Once you have created your account in the CMS system and signed up as a "City Description" judge you will have essays assigned to you to download and grade. The essays are typically assigned on the first week of January. The judges are expected to evaluate the essays and enter the scores back into the CMS system. Please contact Sarah Davis for questions.

  • Description: Read and review 8-10 City Descriptions, and score them using the rubric provided.
  • Time Commitment: Several hours (between January 5 and 19). PRIOR to Competition Day completed ONLINE

Virtual City Judge

Virtual City Judges are needed to score the virtual city portion of the competition. This task can also be done from the comfort of your own computer. Once you have created your account in the CMS system and signed up as a "Virtual City" judge you will have virtual city presentations assigned to you to download and grade. Microsoft Powerpoint will be required to view the team team's virtual city presentation. Please contact Sarah Davis for questions.

Model and Presentation Judges

Model and presentation judges are needed to score the physical 3-D city model on the day of the competition. They will evaluate innovation, creativity, aesthetics, workmanship and the use of recycled materials. Presentation judges will score the team's verbal presentations based on their delivery of the presentation, the knowledge that the students are able to demonstrate, and how well the students work as a team. Model and presentation judging will take place in the morning on Saturday, January 20th, 2017. This is just a 1/2 day commitment. Lunch will be provided for the judges.
