A Special Thank You to Our Sponsors - 2018 State of Illinois Future City Competition

CHICAGO–The Future City Competition - State of Illinois  wishes to thank its supporters for the 2018 competition. Your sponsorship provided the opportunity to produce a successful competition. This year’s theme was The Age-Friendly City. Future City asked middle school students to respond to and address the challenges in designing innovative solutions that can serve an urban area’s older population. Students were tasked with identifying age-related issues in their city planning and engineering a framework that enables seniors to remain active and independent.

Over 200 students and educators participated in this year’s competition which was held at the UIC-Student Center East on Sat. Jan. 20th.  Over 125 judges participated during the competition. Twenty-six Special Awards were awarded and five top teams were selected in this year’s competition. Look for more details soon.

In the US, over 40,000 students, representing 1,350 schools, take part in the Future City® Competition.

Major funding in the National Finals comes from Bechtel Corporation, Bentley Systems, EA, ExxonMobil, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Motorola, NCEE, Northrop Grumman Foundation, Raytheon, Shell Oil Company, TE, and UL.
